Protect the connection
Use HTTPS in production. Keep credentials in environment configuration and avoid exposing internal errors to visitors.
Define the boundary
Validate request types and limits on the server. Browser validation improves usability; it cannot establish trust. Add rate limits where requests trigger costly actions.
Make protection explicit
Use security headers through Helmet, maintain dependencies, and configure cookies deliberately. Treat these as layers, then test the routes that handle user input.
